Steward•Ship: A Love Letter to the Maine Coast, a film by Luke Kaneb and Luc Milam in collaboration with MITA, Protect our Winters, and the Maine Office of Tourism, will be premiering in Portland Wednesday, July 22 at the Maine Outdoor Film Festival. The film will show during the Prevailing Westerly program, which begins at 8 p.m. on the Eastern Promenade. Click here for ticketing information, and show up in your MITA gear like we all will!
The film centers on the relationship between effort and reward through the lens of Milam’s 75-year-old wooden boat and the islands of the Maine Island Trail. It’s equally a tribute to those who care for treasured places and do hard things because it’s good for the soul, and to the journey of learning those values from those who have come before.
We are proud to call Luc a dedicated MITA volunteer, and we are so excited for everyone to experience the Maine Island Trail on the big screen. If you aren’t able to make it down to Portland next week, keep your eyes and ears open for other screenings along the Maine coast this summer. We promise, you won’t want to miss this!
