As a membership-based nonprofit, MITA is sustained by hundreds of generous individuals and families who go above and beyond the commitment made through their membership dues each year. Donations are critical to sustaining the operations required to steward the Maine Island Trail, as revenue from memberships cover just 19% of MITA’s annual expenses.
