MITA Donates $8,500 from Shirt Sales to Benefit MCFA’s Working Waterfront Support Fund

We’ll be honest. When we first thought of launching a special tee at the MITA Gear Shop to support recovery efforts from January’s catastrophic coastal storms, we didn’t get too crazy with our expectations. We just wanted to do something, however small, to help out.

As it turns out, we may have underestimated the power of the MITA community. Your support was astonishing, and we are so proud to announce a donation of $8,500 to the Maine Coast Fishermen’s Association’s Working Waterfront Support Fund. This money will go to work immediately as Maine’s vital working waterfront continues the long road to recovery.

If you haven’t received your order yet, don’t fret! We have a massive batch of shirts going out this week, and the third and final batch will be headed out the door next week at the latest.

We know we’ll be seeing these shirts “in the wild” for years to come, and each time we do we’ll be reminded of how lucky we are to have a community that cares as much about Maine’s people as they do Maine’s islands. Thank you!
