COVID-19 Update: Burnt island is open for day use but overnight stays on the island are not being accepted at this time. Please contact maria@mita.org for further information.
For overnight stays on Burnt Island in Muscongus Bay:
Privately-owned Burnt Island is an active place where seasonal residences, Outward Bound programs, and lobstering operations co-exist. To help maintain this balance, the landowner has special criteria for overnight use of the island, which is a privilege that is extended only to MITA members and not to the general public. These requirements are firm and exceptions will not be made. Thank you for helping us maintain this privilege of access by adhering to the requirements below.
- All overnight guests must be current MITA members. (A family membership covers all members of your household).
- Reservation requests must be made at least 2 weeks prior to your stay.
- At least 2 hours of light trail work per person per night or a suggested donation of $50 per person per night is required to use the cabin (tools provided).
- No fires or pets.
After you fill out the form below, MITA will be in touch with more information.
