Skimalong II Cedar Woodstrip kayak

This Skimalong II Cedar woodstrip kayak was built from plans from WoodenBoat. It is in nice condition with a custom fiberglass/epoxy bucket seat molded from a Necky Kyook kayak and had floatation bags added to the bow and stern.
Built in 2001 by only owner and person that donated it to the Maine Island Trail Association. This kayak was built without staples and the wood is clear 5/4″ western red cedar milled down. It weighs about 55lbs and has been regularly varnished with Petit Captains every two seasons and the boat is always stored indoors. The bow and stern edges are protected with bronze half oval strips.

The kayak has an enlarged cockpit and the builder moved the seat forward 2.5 inches from the design specs to better balance it in a crosswind, which was helpful.
It has a 28″ beam, which makes it ultra stable.
