Leigh Dorsey and Dameon Colbry, MITA members from Belfast, heeded the call of the sea this past summer by completing a thru-row of the Maine Island Trail. For the latest edition of The Island Trail, MITA’s biannual newsletter, Leigh wrote a story (Feast of Adventure, page 1) about their experience.
As a followup, Leigh shared with the MITA staff her final project for a GIS mapping course she was taking. The assignment was to create a story map using ESRI’s online mapping software, and since the topic could be anything, Leigh naturally chose rowing and the thru-row. She highlighted MITA and Maine Coast Heritage Trust as examples of organizations working to improve public access on the Maine coast.
Leigh’s presentation, framing, and mapping of the trip are quite extraordinary. CLICK HERE to check it out!
Leigh and Dameon’s boat, Norppa, anchored securely off of Harbor Island in Stonington.
