Our friends at the Schoodic Institute are selling their research and education sailing vessel, the Presto 30 Schoodic.
Schoodic is the second of nine Presto 30s built to an extraordinarily innovative and capable design by Rodger Martin and constructed to custom boat standards by Maine’s Union River Boat Company in 2010. Drawing only 13 inches and beachable with centerboard, rudder, and outboard retracted, the boat has sleeping accommodations for four people, an enclosed head, and simple galley. Its 8’6” beam enables it to be trailered on its Triad trailer without permits in all states, and it can be launched off any ramp. The carbon-fiber masts of its cat ketch, wishbone rig can be raised and lowered easily by two people.
Schoodic is a rugged, simple, and fast boat able to carry up to eight people comfortably in the large cockpit. The shallow draft combined with her seaworthiness and high-quality construction make her an extremely able, versatile vessel.
