How to fill out your Coastal Island Use Log:
Please make an entry on your log each time you pass by or land on a MITA island.
We are looking for the following numerical data:
- the number of day-users and campers (including yourself) and whether they are individuals or groups; if you see an organized group, indicate their "type" (e.g. camp, boy scouts, schooner, outfitter, etc.) if you can tell without invading their privacy.
- the total number of tents (including yours).
- the number and type of boat(s) beached or anchored by the island (including yours).
In addition, please provide details about:- the overall condition of the island and its use areas, the presence of wildlife or nests, other visitors, unauthorized fire pits, human waste, tree limbing, etc.
- any inaccuracies, additions, or suggestions regarding the Guidebook site description.
- impressions, insights, or other anecdotes that we can share with the island owners.
This information helps us assess the environmental impact of recreational use. Thank you for helping us care for the islands!
